Confession: I am a travel addict, globetrotter, travel bug, or whatever else you want to call me.
Unlike a lot of other travellers, I don’t enjoy backpacking or moving around too often. Instead, I like to spend at least 4 months in one place – it’s the only way you can truly immerse yourself in a culture.
My travels so far have taken me to Europe, North America and Asia, and a tiny bit of Central America. I am dying to go to South America, but I really want to learn Spanish before I go. As I am hopeless at sticking to languages, I am yet to learn more than “¿dónde está la fiesta?”. Clearly that is the most useful phrase while travelling around the region, however it would be nice to be able to speak to people once I arrive at the party.
I have managed to combine my love for travel with my passion for international development. While completing my International Studies degree I studied at McGill University in Montreal for a year. Currently I am working for an UN-affiliated development organization in Bangkok.
I am due to finish my internship here in Thailand in a few weeks so I will be leaving this lovely country – something I am not very excited about. I’m still hunting for that dream development job (any job offers shall be considered), so in the meantime I’m going to keep traveling and finding work where I can – I have no idea where I’m going next or what I will be doing. Let the adventure continue!!
Just read your travels in Thailand, the reading is easy and charming.. keep up the good work.. Your thoughts on language were very funny..
Hi Laura! I am loving your blog! Be safe in Bangkok. I thought it was a little scary when I was there for NYE 2007 since there were approx 9 bombs in the city but I guess it’s in a worse shape now. Keep on writing good articles!
Glad to have met another globe-trotter from Montreal!
Hi Laura, I nominated you for the 7 Links Project. Email me at offtrackbackpacking@gmail.com so I can send you the details :)

Hi Laura!
It sounds like you are having an amazing time living around the world! Good on you! I guess you don’t miss home! I have just returned home from Europe and it’s sad knowing I won’t see you around S-Hill any time soon. Madrid is an awesome city – I rode all around the Parque del Retiro.
Your blog is awesome! It’s so interesting that I hope you don’t mind if I subscribe??
Good luck in Madrid and I hope you enjoy the bar there! Sounds much more fun than home!
Sorry about my bad internet contact keeping skills!
